AI Checker

See how AI-like your writing sounds, which signals drive the score, and which sentences to revise. Free, instant, and your text never leaves your browser.

0 words · Your text never leaves your browser.

Add at least 80 words to see your result.

This checker measures writing-style signals. No tool, including Turnitin, can prove who wrote a text, so treat the score as a guide to revise your writing, not as evidence.

How the AI checker works

Paste at least 80 words. The checker looks at four writing-style signals that are much more common in AI-generated text than in student writing:

  • Sentence variety. People naturally mix short and long sentences. AI text is often very even.
  • AI-style phrases. Words such as "delve", "pivotal", "tapestry" and "it is important to note".
  • Formulaic openers. Many sentences starting with "Furthermore", "Moreover" or "Overall".
  • Dash use. Frequent dashes are a common AI habit.

It then shows a score, the signals behind it and the sentences worth revising. Everything runs in your browser, so your text is never uploaded.

What the score means

ScoreResultWhat to do
0–34%Mostly human-likeCheck the flagged sentences, if any
35–59%Mixed signalsRevise flagged sentences and vary sentence length
60–100%Strong AI-style signalsRewrite in your own voice, with your own examples

No detector can prove authorship

AI detectors, including the ones universities use, look for patterns. They can flag human writing, especially from non-native English speakers, and they can miss edited AI text. Use this score to improve your writing, not as proof either way.

How to make your writing sound like you

  • Use specific examples from your course, your reading or your own experience.
  • Vary sentence length: follow a long, detailed sentence with a short one.
  • Replace generic transitions with sentences that explain the link between ideas.
  • Show critical judgement: say which evidence is stronger and why. Our guide on how to write critically shows how.

Frequently asked questions

Is this AI checker accurate?
It's a guide, not a verdict. It measures style signals that are common in AI text, but no detector can prove who wrote something. Use it to find sentences to revise.
Is my text uploaded or stored?
No. The checker runs entirely in your browser, so your text never leaves your device.
Does it work like Turnitin's AI detection?
No. Turnitin uses its own trained model, and we can't predict its results. Both tools look for patterns, and both can be wrong.
Why was my own writing flagged?
Formal academic writing can share some features with AI text, especially formulaic transitions and very even sentences. Revising those makes your writing clearer as well.
