A 10-point CGPA is first converted to a percentage with the common CBSE formula (CGPA × 9.5), so an 8.2 CGPA is about 78%. Some universities use their own formula, so check your marksheet.

Is this conversion official?

No. Every university and credential evaluator (such as WES) uses its own method, and some look at your full transcript rather than an average. Use this tool to understand where you stand, then check the conversion your target university accepts. To work out a GPA from US letter grades, use the GPA calculator.

Frequently asked questions

What is a 2:1 in US GPA?
A UK 2:1 (60–69%) is roughly a 3.3–3.7 GPA, often summarised as about 3.5.
What is a First-class degree in GPA?
A UK First (70% and above) is usually treated as about 3.7–4.0, the top of the US scale.
What is 75% in GPA?
It depends on the system. A UK 75% is a First, about 4.0. An Indian 75% is first class with distinction, also about 4.0 on the WES scale. A US 75% is only a C, about 2.0.
How do I convert CGPA to GPA?
A common method is to turn CGPA into a percentage (CGPA × 9.5) and map it to the 4.0 scale. A simpler linear estimate is CGPA ÷ 10 × 4, so 8.0 becomes 3.2. Universities differ, so check which method yours uses.
Is a High Distinction the same as an A?
Yes, roughly. An Australian HD (85+) is usually treated as an A, or 4.0.
